Varitek Wants Posada Like Deal, Seriously!
I think it’s now safe to say that Scott Boras is completely insane. According to The Boston Herald, Boras is seeking a Jorge Posada like (4yr, $52M) deal for Jason Varitek. The 36 year old Red Sox catcher batted a weak .220 in 2008 and saw a drop off in RBI production.
“When you talk about Jason’s down year,” Boras said, “I basically take issue with the terminology. Jason Varitek is paid to lead and paid to get his team to win. His offensive production, while certainly something that has been considered in the upper echelon for catchers (isn’t as important), I know from the past negotiation with Boston, his offense was a very small value in the marketplace.”. This guy is a master.
If Theo was thinking signing Tek would be a no-brainer… guess again. Scott Boras.. Insane Sports Agent is on the case. Unreal.

Varitek is a good defensive catcher… but now were near the hitter that Jorge is. Boras is creating a win-lose situation for his client here. fine with me.
