Can the NY Jets Continue The Streak?
Sunday, November 23rd, 2008Wow, it actually feels good these days to say that I’m a Jet fan. I have to be honest, I had prepared for the worst this season. I figured that even with Farve, the best they would do is .500. Now that prediction seems down right silly.
Last week they faced a tough challenge against the Pats and proved that they are the real deal. I watched that game with knots in my stomach. But they came through… it was the best game I’ve seen them play in a LONG time.
This week they meet their toughest opponent yet, the undefeated Tennessee Titans. I anticipate having the same stomach cramps right up until the last few seconds of the game.
This week’s game is going to be won in the trenches. The battle between Titan center Kevin Mawae (former Jet) and Jets tackle Kris Jenkins will be something to keep an eye on. If the Jets can establish dominance on the line and give Favre the time he needs, they can win.
Aside from line dominance, QBs will come it play as well as receiving. I have to give the edge to Favre over Collins and I have to give the Jets the receiving edge.
If the Jets can establish the running game and free up receivers they will win. My prediction is 24-14 Jets.
Note: I realize this is a Yankee blog… but as long as the Jets keep their nose in the playoffs, expect a weekly blog post from me. It’s been 40 year since Namath waved his finger and held the SB trophy. Maybe, just maybe this is the year Favre get’s his first ring!
