Freeze Dried Yankee Stadium Grass For Sale

Friday, June 26th, 2009

After the Yankee post game on Yes last night I happen to catch the infomercial for Steiner Sports and their  wholesale whoring out of every bit and piece of the old Yankee stadium.  Hey.. I can understand people would want to buy stadium seats, pieces of the outfield field, pieces of the facade, lockers, signs and many more interest and historic items.   However, I have to draw the line at spending $80 on a small patch of freeze dried grass from the field… yes.. freeze dried grass.   This grand structure that was once the place where every young ball player wanted to work is not being reduced to selling dirt and grass plants from it’s field.  You can seem Brandon Steiner licking his chops as he talks about the “less expensive” items that are available for purchase.  It reminded me of when someone auctioned off Luis Gonzales’s used bubble gum on eBay.   So our final memory of the grand old stadium will be seeing reduced to small plugs of grass encased in collector’s glass.   I ain’t buyin.

Yankee Stadium Demolition Pictures

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Thanks to our friends at NYYankeesrumors.com here are some recent pictures of the dis-Mantle-ing of Yankee Stadium.  Notice that the seats are being boxed up in the first few pictures.  One can only guess that these pieces of history are destined for Steiner’s sports memorabila.  Have to say it makes me a bit sad to see the old stadium coming down.

It’s Only One Game

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Hearing some Yankee fans talk the last two days and you would think the season is on the brink of failure.  They played one for cryin out loud!  Even great players have bad days.   Do you really think that Sabathia is going to stink the entire season?  He will settle in.   He’s one of the best in the game.

And let’s stop the complaining about the stadium (except for ticket prices).   They have to get the kinks out and they will.   Now ticket prices are another thing.  I was looking to take my family a game vs the White Sox and went on Stubhub for 5 tickets on the 2nd level, Left field.   Turns out to be $130 a piece + handling charge… so $700 for tickets.  Then let’s add $18 parking and at least $125 for food.  Add another $100 for 3 souveners for the kids.  Add it all up and I’m looking at dropping a G note for a single game.   That’s completely ridiculous.  For $1000 I can take the family to about 8 Trenton Thunder games and have a feast.

New Yankee Stadium Review

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Our friends over at New Stadium Insider posted an indepth review of their experience this past weekend at Yankee Stadium.   Good info and well done review…keep in mind it’s a huge building and they need a little time to get the kinks out.  From watching the game in HD the place looks amazing.  I can’t understand how batters are distracted by that huge video screen above the batters eye… but apparently they’re not.

The 2009 Yankee Lineup – Final 3/31/09

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Hot stove is all but over.  The competition for center field has been decided.  The Yankees are getting ready to pack up and move north to their new home in the Bronx.   The line up is as we had it in January except for Brett Gardner in CF and Cody Ransom at 3B.  Who would have thought that A-Rod would be sidelined and Ransom would be at third on opening day.   Here’s how they look coming north…

The pitching staff looks incredible.  The defense looks solid.  Offensively they have a ton of weapons.  As of right now there are no reasons why this team shouldn’t be dominate in the AL East.   Hopefully by end of April we’ll have some good signs.
